Netflix’s recently released series “Squid Game” has become viral across the internet. But we’re not here to talk about the show, we’re here to talk about something more exciting and that we’re good at – recipes!

Korean cuisine has so many iconic dishes, so it’s not surprising that some of them appeared in “Squid Game” episodes! We’ve compiled some tasty recipes for the food that appears throughout the show just for you. Without further ado, here’s some inspiration for the next Korean recipes you need to try making at home:

1. Bibimbap Rice Bowl

Here’s the scene where Seung Gi Hoon ate a rice bowl. But the real reason that made this scene famous is because the actor was spotted faking the eating scene with an empty spoon! Oops..

Let’s set that aside, and look into the rice bowl. This dish is very popular in Korea because it’s simple and delicious. The kimchi, beef, and veggies over the rice create a tasty combination. One of the most famous versions of this kind of Korean rice bowl (or box) is called Bibimbap. Try to make one!

2. Dalgona Candy (+ Coffee!)

One of the most viral scenes of the show is where they make a traditional Korean street food candy! This candy is often called as Dalgona in South Korea and is super popular there. Actually, this is what inspired the viral drink “Dalgona Coffee”! In case you’re not a fan of candy, here’s a recipe for the coffee version.

3. Steak

This one is not very Korean, but it made a cameo in the show! You can’t go wrong with a delicious steak recipe, so why not try this innovative version paired with a luscious mushroom sauce. Sound likes umami heaven!

4. Tteokbokki

This food can also be seen in one of the scenes! That’s because Tteokbokki is one of the most popular foods in South Korea. It is a soft rice cake mixed with spicy and umami sauce. This also makes it a great snack for lazy couch days.

BONUS: Korean Beef Galbi Nachos

This last one was not really in the show, but it’s still a recommended easy Korean-inspired snack. Crunchy nachos, ground beef, and juicy kimchi is the perfect fusion combination. Get the full recipe here!
