For those with a sweet tooth, this Bread Pudding recipe is a must-have and must-try! It can be served hot or cold, but personally recommend serving it hot with a dollop of Vanilla ice-cream and you’ve got yourself a winner!

Ingredients

  • 12 slices bread
  • 500 ml fresh milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbs butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp chocolate chips add more as desired
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp custard powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the bread pudding: Preheat oven to 155°c. Grease 21” x 21” glass casserole with butter. Tear the bread slices into small pieces and lay them in the casserole.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, 2 tbsp of chocolate chips, sugar, melted butter, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix thoroughly, pour over the bread in the casserole.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1 tbsp of chocolate over the pudding. Pop it into the oven and bake for about 30 – 35 mins or until the top is browned and springs back when lightly tapped.
  • Prepare the custard sauce: In a saucepan, pour in all ingredients for custard. Whisk it till slightly thickens. Remove from heat, set aside.
  • Combine and serve: Bread pudding can be served warm or cold. Pour over the custard sauce on the bread pudding and enjoy!
