Ingredients
- 12 slices bread
- 500 ml fresh milk
- 2 eggs
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbs butter melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp chocolate chips add more as desired
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 tsp custard powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the bread pudding: Preheat oven to 155°c. Grease 21” x 21” glass casserole with butter. Tear the bread slices into small pieces and lay them in the casserole.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, 2 tbsp of chocolate chips, sugar, melted butter, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix thoroughly, pour over the bread in the casserole.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 tbsp of chocolate over the pudding. Pop it into the oven and bake for about 30 – 35 mins or until the top is browned and springs back when lightly tapped.
- Prepare the custard sauce: In a saucepan, pour in all ingredients for custard. Whisk it till slightly thickens. Remove from heat, set aside.
- Combine and serve: Bread pudding can be served warm or cold. Pour over the custard sauce on the bread pudding and enjoy!
